Bethlehem Area School District has over 6,000 networked computers. The district uses both Apple Macintosh and Windows computers.
Skill21 Successful Knowledge Integration: Learning with Laptops is an initiative designed to help Bethlehem Area School District staff and students prepare to take full advantage of modern learning opportunities. Over the course of the next several years, the Bethlehem Area School District intends to focus on 21st century learning by linking technology, teaching and learning. After a successful introductory year with the sixth grade last school year, we will carry over the program to include the seventh graders. Our goal is to have our students a competitive edge and desire to continue to learn as they embark upon their future careers and become contributing members of society.
OS Whenever possible, Bethlehem Area School District embraces the use of Open Source software. Some of the freely distrbuted packages in use: apache web server, htdig search engine, squid for internet filtering, mysql database, php web scripting, darwin - the foundation of MacOS X, Yellow Dog Linux operating system and many others.
