~ Degree Requirements ~

New Program Enrollees: Any student enrolling in any of the following degree programs for the Fall 2007 term or later will fall under the revised program guidelines: Classroom Technology, Educational Development and Strategies, Educational Leadership and Intstructional Technology. See proper table below for new requirements.

 

Students with previous Wilkes coursework now applying for another degree should consult the appropriate program advisor to determine exact courses needed under the new requirements. (Program coordinator contact information at bottom of appropriate program column)

*Students who have previously completed ED 514: Issues in Education or ED 518: School Law may not register for ED 519: Issues, Laws and Trends in Education.

ED 530: Utilizing Emerging Technologies to Improve Learning

(Prerequisite: Microcomputer Literacy -

- If teachers do not possess basic computer skills, they should complete ED 580: Introduction to Educational Computing for elective credit prior to enrolling in these computer courses. ED 580 can only be taken once towards any degree program. It cannot be taken on different platforms (Windows or Macintosh) and have both count for credit.

In addition to the above courses, a three-credit internship, ED 591, is required for Pennsylvania Department of Education certification as a K-12 Instructional Technology Specialist (a total of 33 credits for the Master's Degree with IT certification).

Candidates for the Instructional Technology Specialist Certificate who do not have a valid level 1 or level 2 Pennsylvania instructional certificate must achieve a Pennsylvania Qualifying score in the three pre-professional Praxis I tests (reading, writing and mathematics).
