Act 48 timelines are as follows:

• The first five-year period for all professional educators holding a Pennsylvania Professional Certification prior to July 1, 2000, began on July 1, 2000, and ends June 30, 2005.
• The commencement date for Act 48 requirements for all professional educators certified after July 1, 2000, will be the date their initial certificate was granted. The requirements will be renewed at the end of each five-year period.
• Any courses taken after January 2000 are eligible to count towards Act 48 credits. However, any credit actually awarded will be contingent upon approval from district administration.

Please know that Act 48 credits/hours will not carry over from one five-year time period to the next.
