  Ron Sherry, Director

Ronald P. Sherry was graduated from Liberty High School.  He earned his BS Degree from West Chester State College and completed his Masters Degree at Penn State University.  Ron continued additional studies at Lehigh and Northwestern Universities.

Mr. Sherry was a member of more than a dozen symphony orchestras and concert bands from Binghamton, New York, to Wilmington, Delaware.  He played a bassoon for a number of outstanding conductors including Donald Vorhees, Skitch Henderson, Alfredo Antonini, and Leopold Stokowski.  A member of the Allentown Band for 28 years, Ron was Albertus L. Meyers' assistant conductor for 11 years.

Ron's teaching career spans 37 years with the Wilson Borough and Bethlehem Area School Districts.  At his Alma Mater he developed the Liberty High School Grenadier Band into one of the largest and best known high school bands in Pennsylvania.  In retirement he conducts the Liberty High School Alumni Band and pursues his many hobbies including railroading and bird watching.

Ron Sherry, director of the Libery High School Alumni Band since 1991, patterned the band's programs after John Philip Sousa's style:  lots of marches, lots of variety, and fast pace.   The Alumni Band began during Bethlehem's 250th Anniversary celebrations when the band marched in two parades and performed a concert at Liberty High School in the Memorial Gym.

Ron Sherry conducts with the baton of John Philip Sousa!
