Getting Started

As you begin your search, look for an agency that pairs your career interests, i.e. medical field with hospitals, or your hobbies, i.e. baseball with little league associations, or important personal issues like the environment with a coalition. You are also able to search by location. Some students look for service activities close to their homes. You may access the home page of many agencies by following the links.

You may select more than one site to perform community service activities. Each site requires a separate agreement and time sheet. Other options are available through independent projects. If you would like to become involved in a service activity at an agency or organization other than those on the approved list, you may develop your own independent community service experience.

Guidance counselors are available to help you make decisions concerning the community service requirement. Use the independent project application form and sponsor contract for your proposal. Approval of your independent project application by the BASD Community Service Coordinator is required before you begin your service hours.
