Important Changes to Agency Information
LEHIGH VALLEY HOSPITAL - CEDAR CREST & MUHLENBURG CAMPUSES have announced several changes to the teen volunteer program.
We find it necessary to make several changes in our program which may affect students from your school who want to spend some time with us as volunteers.
They are as follows: After this summer, we will move to a summer only program. We will only allow a very small number of students to work at the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest location on a Saturday from 9 am - 2 pm in the Volunteer office. We will fill these slots from among our currently active volunteers. There will be no other opportunities available during the school year at any of our campuses. Starting with the summer of 2011, our minimum age for teen volunteers will be raised from 14 to 16 years old. We will "grandfather" in any of our currently active teens who are under age 16 into the program. Any new volunteers will have to be at least age 16. We will encourage currently active volunteers to continue next summer. They do not need to reapply but will be contacted by our office to see if they wish to continue their service with us.
In September 2010, we will send each active teen volunteer a verification of their cumulative volunteer hours. These can be submitted to you for any program requirements you may have.
Please visit our volunteer website at www.lvhn.org/volunteers to read about application deadlines and to complete an online application to volunteer. The application dates for 2011 will be January 1 - March 15, 2011.

Approved Agencies
If you are volunteering for one of the Approved Agencies listed in the Directory of Approved Agencies you can get the Approved Agency form in your Student Service Center or download it. Without this document you can not receive credit for your volunteer hours. The new form features the community service application and time sheet in one.

Independent Projects
Students are always encouraged to complete Independent Projects for their community service activities. These projects are student generated and should benefit an individual, group, or organization. However, it is important to follow the established procedure in order to ensure that credit will be given for all of your volunteer hours. Be sure to obtain a copy of the Independent Project Guidelines, available in your Student Service Center, and submit the completed proposal BEFORE beginning your service. Your project will be evaluated by the Community Service Coordinator, and if it is approved, you are ready to begin.
