BOARD HUMAN RESOURCES COMMITTEE

MEETING MINUTES

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2005

 

 

Members of the Board Human Resources Committee met on Monday, November 14, 2005, in the SuperintendentÕs Conference Room A, at the Education Center. Present were the following school board members: Rosario Amato, Joseph Craig, Dr. Craig Haytmanek, William Heske, Charlene Koch, Loretta Leeson, Diane Rowe, and Julie Venanzi. Also in attendance were Assistant to the Superintendent for Finance and Administration Stanley Majewski, Superintendent Joseph Lewis, Director of Student Services Thomas Washington, Supervisor of Minority Affairs, Governmental Programs and Grants Iris Cintr—n, Freedom High School Principal Roger Washburn, Assistant Principal Jose Rosado, Spanish Council Sisobel Torres, Judith Dexter, and Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Robert R. Gross III.

 

The meeting of the Board Human Resources Committee was called to order by Dr. Haytmanek at 8:50 p.m.

OPEN FORUM Ð None

 

PENDING POLICY MANUAL REVISIONS Ð Mr. Gross informed the Board that he is working with PSBA and cabinet on an asthma policy and a new wellness policy.

 

MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING FOR DINING SERVICE Ð Mr. Gross distributed the Memorandum of Understanding. Dr. Lewis explained the Memorandum of Understanding for Dining Services and stated it has been approved in the past years. He recommended that the Board approve it at the Regular Board Meeting.

 

REPORT OF SUPERINTENDENTÕS ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON DIVERSITY Ð Dr. Lewis introduced Mr. Washington and Mrs. Cintr—n as the co-chairs of this committee. He spoke about the committeeÕs composition and itÕs dedication to the mission of addressing diversity in the school district. He stated that this committee meets regularly covering several areas and that it is a community based committee that also involves high school principals and other district administrators. Dr. Lewis elaborated on the some of the diversity issues the committee has been targeting.

Mr. Washington distributed a power point presentation depicting the charges and recommendations of the committee and its five sub-committees. Mr. Washington detailed the goals and recommendations of the five subcommittees. A general discussion was held regarding the various recommendations developed presented by the community-based committee.
