MEETING MINUTES

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2005

 

 

Members of the Board Human Resources Committee met on Monday, September 19, 2005, in the SuperintendentÕs Conference Room A, at the Education Center. Present were the following school board members: Rosario Amato, Joseph Craig, Dr. Craig Haytmanek, Charlene Koch, Loretta Leeson, Diane Rowe, Julie Venanzi, and Margaret Williams. Also in attendance were Director of Student Services Thomas Washington, Superintendent Joseph Lewis, Act 48 Cochair Craig Zieger, Student Representative Isaac Sharkan, and Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Robert R. Gross III.

 

The meeting of the Board Human Resources Committee was called to order by Dr. Haytmanek at 8:34 p.m.

OPEN FORUM Ð None

 

ACT 48 UPDATE Ð Robert R. Gross III began with his discussion on the Act 48 Plan. Mr. Gross reviewed the plan with the Board. A general discussion was held regarding alternative education, teacher training and CPETracker. The revised plan will be submitted to PDE by September 30 following Board approval in September. The plan will be in effect for the 2006 through the 2009 school years.

 

MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING Ð Mr. Gross spoke about the Memorandum of Understanding with the Bethlehem Education Association for the position of Health Service Department Chair. He recommended that the Board approve it on the September Agenda.

 

REVIEW OF POLICY MANUAL Ð The Board of School Directors continued the review and revision of the DistrictÕs policies. Presented for discussion were numbers 206, 708, 716, 810.1, and 901. Each policy was reviewed and an explanation of the changes was given.

Dr. Haytmanek adjourned the meeting at 9:14 p.m.
