MEETING MINUTES

TUESDAY, MARCH 15, 2005

 

 

Members of the Board Human Resources Committee met on Tuesday, March 15, 2005, in the SuperintendentÕs Conference Room A, at the Education Center. Present were the following school board members: Joseph Craig, Dr. Craig Haytmanek, William Heske, Charlene Koch, Loretta Leeson, Diane Rowe, Julie Venanzi, and Margaret Williams. Also in attendance were Associate Superintendent Michele Kostem and Human Resources Manager Thomas Thomasik.

 

The meeting of the Board Human Resources Committee was called to order by Dr. Haytmanek at 9:03 p.m.

 

COURTESY OF THE FLOOR TO VISITORS Ð Judith Dexter, 1866 Homestead Avenue, Bethlehem, PA 18018, wanted to bring to the attention of the Board that last week she attended a meeting at Nitschmann Middle School. At the meeting, a number of parents spoke about the laptop initiative. Specifically, the parents were critical of the number of students whose laptops were not working. The parents were told that there would be substitute laptops available and in some instances they were not.

 

OPEN FORUM Ð Mrs. Koch informed the Board that she has received a packet of information on Act 72. She also expressed concern about recent comments attributed to the local legislators and Governor Edward G. Rendell about having a voter referendum in districts where school directors do not opt into Act 72.

Dr. Haytmanek adjourned the meeting at 9:15 p.m.
