COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, November 12, 2001
Members of the Board Human Resources Committee met on Monday, November 12, 2001, at 6:38 p.m., in the SuperintendentÕs Conference Room, at the Education Center. Present were the following school board members: Edward Gallagher-Chairperson, Rosario Amato, Joseph Craig, Charlene Koch, Loretta Leeson, William Heske, Julie Venanzi, Margaret Williams, and Lynn Glancy. Also present were: School Board Member Elect Dr. Craig Haytmanek, Superintendent Thomas Doluisio, Assistant Superintendent Michele Kostem; Director of Elementary Education-Dr. William Nelson, Director of Secondary Education-Monty, Perfetti, Dr. Elizabeth Conard, Principal of Calypso Elementary School.
The meeting of the Board Human Resources Committee was called to order by Mr. Gallagher at 6:38 p.m.
Open Forum - No items were discussed.
Pennsylvania System of School Assessment Results 2001 (PSSA) Ð A comprehensive written report of the results of the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment for the 2000-2001 school year was presented to the Board of School Directors by Dr. Elizabeth Conard, Principal of Calypso Elementary School. The purpose of the assessments is to provide information to teachers and schools to guide the redesign of curricula and instructional strategies to better enable students to achieve the Pennsylvania State Standards. The 2001 assessment reported on mathematics and reading results in grades 5, 8, and 11, in terms of four performance levels which are advanced, proficient, basic and below basic. The Board thanked Dr. Conard for her work on the preparation of the results. Superintendent Doluisio reported to the Board that he and Mrs. Kostem will be meeting with principals and teachers in the schools where the results were below those of schools reported in the similar school bands.
The meeting adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
