BOARD FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES
OCTOBER 9, 2006
Members of the Board Finance Committee met on Monday, October 9, 2006, at 7:25 p.m. in the Dining Room at the Education Center. Present were School Board Members Dr. Craig Haytmanek, Diane Rowe, Loretta Leeson, William Heske, Rosario Amato, Margaret Williams, Charlene Koch, Joseph Craig, and Judith Dexter. Also present were Dr. Joseph A. Lewis, superintendent of schools; Stanley J. Majewski, Jr., assistant to the superintendent for finance and administration, and members of the press.

Mr. Majewski announced that the first meeting of the Tax Study Commission will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at 6:00 p.m. in the Dining Room at the Education Center. The meeting will give the members a chance to get to know each other and establish guidelines for the structure of the commission. Officers will be elected, and adoption of a charter, bylaws, and operation procedures is anticipated. This meeting will be open to the public.
Mrs. Koch is the board representative for the commission but will be unable to attend the first meeting as she will be in Hershey at a PSBA conference. Dr. Lewis and Mr. Majewski, as well as the districtÕs solicitor, will be in attendance to assist the members of the commission.
Mr. Craig stated that he felt that as many board members as possible should attend the meeting.
Mrs. Dexter stated she will attend, and Dr. Haytmanek indicated he would as well.
Mrs. Rowe asked how many meetings were mandated. Mr. Majewski responded that there has to be at least one meeting. The commission needs to develop its recommendation and then present it to the Board of School Directors, within 90 days of the commissionÕs appointment, which is December 13, 2006.
