HEALTH AND DENTAL UPDATE Ð Mr. Majewski advised the committee that the districtÕs dental agreement expired on August 31, 2005. Mr. Majewski negotiated an agreement with Delta Dental and received a $.90, per employe and retiree, per month administrative fee reduction. The prior agreement with United Concordia cost $4.05 per person; the new charge will be $3.15 per person resulting in an annual savings of between approximately $18,000 to $20,000. When combined with the increased network savings the total will be $100,000 per year or more.
Mr. Majewski also stated that the district has multiple year agreements with Capital Blue Cross and has negotiated to have these agreements reopened resulting in a savings of approximately $110,000 per year.
Discussion followed on whether the district could eliminate itsÕ third party administrator and save even more. Mr. Majewski stated that he had looked into this possibility, and that due to the volume of claims and the complexity of administering benefits, with its associated costs, it would not be cost effective.
The meeting adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
