BOARD FACILITIES COMMITTEE MEETING

MEETING MINUTES

 

MONDAY, JULY 9, 2001

 

 

Members of the Board Facilities Committee met on Monday, July 9, 2001, at 7:00 p.m., in the Superintendent’s Conference Room at the Education Center.  Present were school board members Charlene Koch, Loretta Leeson, Julie Venanzi, Joseph Craig, Rosie Amato, Lynn Glancy, and William Heske.  Also present were Thomas Doluisio, Superintendent of Schools, Michele Kostem, Assistant Superintendent, Dominic Villani, Director of Administrative Services, Jack Wittenberger, Asst. Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds, Arif Fazil of D’Huy Engineering, Inc., and representatives from the press.

 

The meeting of the Board Facilities Committee was called to order at 7:00 p.m., by Mr. William Heske, Chairman.

 

The following items were discussed:

 

1.            Open Forum

 

Nothing to report.

 

 

2.            Construction Update

 

Mr. Villani presented an update as to the progress of the following projects:

n     Marvine Elementary School - Move is completed from old Marvine to new Marvine Elementary School.  Asbestos is being abated in old building

n     Donegan Elementary School - On schedule to be completed by November 1, 2001

n     William Penn Elementary School Roof - Work is on schedule

n     BASD Track - Scheduled to be completed by August 15, 2001

 

 

3.            Agenda Items – July 23, 2001

 

The board voted 7-0 to bring the following agenda items to the July 23, 2001, Board Meeting:

 

A.             Authorization to Expend 1998 Bond Funds - Donegan Elementary School Construction Project - Permit Costs - Change Order

B.             Authorization to Expend 1998 Bond Funds - Bethlehem Area School District Stadium's All-Weather Track Project - Change Order - Board Ratification

C.             Liberty High School Sign - Bid Opening

D.             Liberty High School Auditorium Door Hardware - Bid Opening

E.             Telephone/Written Quotations for the $4,000-$10,000 Cost Category

1.     Salt Storage Bins - East Hills Middle School

2.     Phoenix 200 High Capacity Dehumidifier

3.     Labor for Softball Field Dugouts - Liberty High School


 

4.            Discussion Items

 

A.             Miller Heights Walkway Update -

 

Mr. Villani informed board members that the walkway was designed and submitted to Bethlehem Township.  Bethlehem Township is scheduled to commence work in late July, early August.

 

B.             Freemansburg Elementary School Update -

 

Mr. Villani informed board members that the district has received the OK from Indoor Air Solutions that the building is OK to house students and staff.  All supplies, equipment, and materials have been moved from Freemansburg South back to Freemansburg Elementary School and is ready for September opening.
