BOARD FACILITIES COMMITTEE MEETING

MEETING MINUTES

MONDAY, MARCH 12, 2001

 

Members of the Board Facilities Committee met on Monday, March 12, 2001, at 6:00 p.m., in the Superintendentâs Conference Room at the Education Center (regularly scheduled meeting of March 5, 2001, was postponed due to inclement weather). Present were school board members Charlene Koch, Margaret Williams, Loretta Leeson, Julie Venanzi, Joseph Craig, William Heske, and Ed Gallagher. Also present were Thomas Doluisio, Superintendent of Schools, Michele Kostem, Assistant Superintendent, Dominic Villani, Director of Administrative Services, Arif Fazil of DâHuy Engineering, Inc., and representatives from the press.

The meeting of the Board Facilities Committee was called to order at 6:00 p.m., by Mr. William Heske, Chairman.

The following items were discussed:

  1. Open Forum ö
  2. Nothing to report.

  3. Construction Update ö
  4. Mr. Villani reported that all current projects are on schedule.

  5. Agenda Items ö March 19, 2001

The board voted 7-0 to bring the following agenda items to the March 19, 2001, Board Meeting:

    1. Authorization to Expend 1996 Bond Funds - Lincoln Elementary School Construction Project - Change Order Deduct
    2. Authorization to Expend 1998 Bond Funds - Clearview Elementary School Renovation/ Construction Project - Change Order Deducts (2)
    3. Authorization to Expend 1998 Bond Funds - Marvine Elementary School Construction Project - Change Order - Permit Fees
    4. Authorization to Expend 1998 Bond Funds - Liberty High School Commons Building - Auditorium and Cafeteria Air Conditioning - Bids Opened March 2, 2001 (Rejection of bids due to bids coming in higher than anticipated)

  1. Discussion Items ö

    1. Miller Heights Elementary School - Sidewalk along south side of Klein Street -
    2. Mr. Villani informed the board that the administration is working with Bethlehem Township on this project. He will keep the board apprised of the progress on this project.

    3. Farmersville Elementary School - Improvements along William Penn Highway and Myers Lane
    4. Mr. Villani informed the board of the estimated costs identified with this project - $495,000.

    5. Freemansburg Elementary School Remediation Update ö

Mr. Villani informed the board that progress was being made at Freemansburg Elementary School. The corridor floors are being installed. The cabinet work should be completed by May. Testing is ongoing.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
