BOARD FACILITIES COMMITTEE MEETING

MEETING MINUTES

MONDAY, MARCH 6, 2000

 

Members of the Board Facilities Committee met on Monday, March 6, 2000, at 8:35 p.m., in the Superintendent’s Conference Room at the Education Center. Present were school board members Joseph Craig, Julie Venanzi, Charlene Koch, and Loretta Leeson. Also present were Thomas Doluisio, Superintendent of Schools, Michele Kostem, Assistant Superintendent, Dominic Villani, Director of Athletics/Plant Management, and Arif Fazil of D’Huy Engineering, Inc.

The meeting of the Board Facilities Committee was called to order at 8:35 p.m., by Dominic Villani (Mr. Heske, Committee Chairperson, was absent).

The following items were discussed:

  1. Open Forum —

    2. Mrs. Venanzi inquired as to the status of the Liberty High School parking project.

  2. Construction Update —

    3. Mr. Villani reported that all projects are on schedule.

  3. Agenda Items —

    4. The following items were reviewed and the board unanimously voted to bring these items to the March Board Meeting:

    (A) Donegan and Marvine Elementary Schools’ Construction Projects — PlanCon F Approvals

    (B) Authorization to Expend 1998 Bond Funds — Liberty High School Cooling Tower Replacement — Bid Opening 2/24/00

    (C) Authorization to Expend 1998 Bond Funds — Roof Replacements — Freemansburg Elementary School, Spring Garden Elementary School, Liberty High School Classroom Center, Maintenance Building — Bid Opening 3/3/00

    (D) Authorization to Expend 1998 Bond Funds — Liberty High School’s Auditorium Sound and Lighting Systems — Bid Opening 3/14/00

    (E) Telephone/Written Quotations for the $4,000 - $10,000 Cost Category — Northeast Middle School Sanitary Sewer Replacement

  4. Discussion Items —

    1. Capital Improvement Plan Update —

      2. Mr. Villani distributed copies of the updated Capital Improvement Plan which will be reviewed at the April Board Facilities Committee meeting.

    2. BASD Stadium Track Project —

Mr. Villani informed the committee that it would be impossible to have the BASD Stadium Track Project completed by September, 2000. Design and bid specs will be completed through the fall of 2000, with bids being advertised in January, 2001.
