RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE ADMINISTRATION - October 27, 2003

22.     Authorization to Expend 2001 Bond Funds - Maintenance Vehicles

and Technology Department Vehicle,

            INFORMATION:

The school district does not have a replacement schedule for maintenance vehicles; and as a result, the majority of its vehicles, especially those used for snow removal, has become unreliable. The director of operations, planning, and special programs is developing a replacement strategy for the Maintenance Department's fleet. It has been determined that several vehicles must be replaced prior to the snow season. The Technology Department has been using a vehicle that was determined to be no longer needed by the Athletic Department and is unreliable and in need of replacement.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the Board of School Directors authorizes expenditures for a cost of approximately $150,000 to purchase five maintenance vehicles and one technology vehicle needed for the operation of the school district.
