18.      Authorization to Add Positions from Individuals with Disabilities

            Education Act (IDEA)

 

 

INFORMATION:

 

Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) provides funds to local school districts to employ special education staff. Due to an increase in the number of students identified as in need of learning support services at Clearview Elementary School an additional .5 teacher is needed. In addition, a 1.0 teacher assistant is needed to provide services on a one-to-one basis for a student being transitioned into the school district from an out-of-district placement.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

 

That the administration be authorized to add a .5 learning support teacher at Clearview Elementary School at an approximate cost of $4,100, and a 1.0 teacher assistant at an approximate cost of $3,200 for the remainder of the 2002-2003 school year.

 

 

The administration's recommendations 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 30, 31, and 32 were considered together.
