21.       Learn and Serve America: K-12 School-Based Programs Grant

Application

 

 

INFORMATION:

 

            The Pennsylvania Department of Education is seeking applications for the Learn and Serve America: K-12 School-Based Programs Grant. Learn and Serve is a component of the National and Community Service Trust Act of 1993. The grant is available to public schools for the development and/or expansion of local service learning programs. The purpose of this grant will be to enhance the current community service program by establishing a Student Service Learning Center, staff development, awards recognition for students, and to infuse service projects into the curriculum. Grants will be awarded for three years with annual review.

 

 

            RECOMMENDATION:

 

            That the adminstration be authorized to submit an application for a Learn and Serve planning grant in the amount of $8,000 for 2002-2003 school year.
