18.     Proposed School District Calendar - 2002-2003

 

 

            INFORMATION:

 

A committee comprised of representatives from the administrative staff, Bethlehem Education Association, and the Bethlehem Vocational-Technical School was formed to recommend a school district calendar for the 2002-2003 school year. Attached is a copy of the proposed calendar recommended for adoption.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

 

That the Proposed School District Calendar (pdf document) for the 2002-2003 school year be adopted as presented.

The administration's recommendations 18, 28, 32, and 35 were considered together.

Director Leeson questioned if it was possible to not return to school from the
Christmas break on January 2.  Mrs. Kostem replied that it is difficult to
predict school day cancellations and closings and we don't want to end the year
any later than we do.  Including those two additional days as school holidays
would require ending the school year on June 24.
