18. Smaller Learning Communities (SLC) Grant
INFORMATION:
The United States Department of Education (under Section 10105 of Part A of Title I of the ESEA) is seeking proposals for the Small Learning Communities (SLC) program. The purpose of the program is to support the planning, implementation, or expansion of small, safe, and successful learning environments in large public high schools through a competition grant process.
Liberty High School has expressed an interest in developing a SLC planning grant proposal targeting students who are not meeting standards and will be in the Basic Diploma Program. The planning grant will be used to develop a program that will integrate academic pursuits with employability expectations through enrollment in the Business and Technology House.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the administration be authorized to submit an application for a Smaller Learning Communities (SLC) planning grant for Liberty High School in the amount of $50,000.
