15. GoGirlGo Project
INFORMATION:
The Woman's Sports Foundation is sponsoring a grant entitled, GoGirlGo, which is dedicated to development and funding of girls' sports programs that combines athletic skill instruction with the delivery of educational information aimed at reducing risk behaviors. The target population is girls 10 to 14 years of age. The goal of the project is to maximize the use of sports as an educational intervention and social asset in order to enhance the wellness of girls.
A team of Broughal Middle School teachers developed a proposal for the GoGirlGo Project. The Power XT Program will work with girls on fundamental fitness, step team and cheerleading.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the administration be authorized to submit a GoGirlGo Project proposal on behalf of Broughal Middle School for funding in the amount of $24,980.
