RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE ADMINISTRATION - January 29, 2001

 

 

23.      Tax Collector Compensation

 

 

         INFORMATION:

 

Taxing districts may change the compensation for the elected tax collectors prior to the fifteenth day of February of the year of the municipal election where the office is to be filled or when a vacancy occurs.  Tax collectors continue to receive the previous term’s compensation until the school tax duplicate from the previous term is finished.  Elected tax collectors begin their new term on the first Monday of January following their election to office.

 

Currently, the Bethlehem Area School District compensates elected tax collectors as follows:

 

            Fountain Hill Borough                                    $4,000 per year

 

            Freemansburg Borough                                   $1,500 per year

 

 

RECOMMENDATION:

 

That the Bethlehem Area School District change the compensation for the elected tax collectors for the ensuing term of office to:

 

            Fountain Hill Borough                                    $4,500 per year

 

            Freemansburg Borough                                   $1,700 per year

The administration's recommendations 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13,
14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, and 28 were considered
together.
