  1. Twenty-First Century Community Learning Centers Program

INFORMATION:


The Bethlehem Area School District is eligible to apply for funds from the United States
Department of Education to create Twenty-First Century Community Learning Centers in
serving a high percentage of low income students. The purpose of the grant is to provide
education, recreational, and health programs for children during after school hours. Special
emphasis must be given to help students meet academic standards.


RECOMMENDATION:

That the administration be authorized to submit an application in the amount of
$1,805,111 (total for three years) to create Twenty-First Century Learning Centers at
Fountain Hill, Freemansburg, Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and William Penn Elementary
Schools.
