RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE ADMINISTRATION - March 20, 2000

  1. Private Industry Council of the Lehigh Valley - Youth Corps Program for
    Handicapped Youths, Ages 14-21

INFORMATION:

The Bethlehem Area School District is eligible to apply to the Private Industry Council of
the Lehigh Valley, Inc., (PIC) under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) for funds to
operate a Youth Corps Program for 25 Handicapped Youths, ages 14 to 21.


The program serving mentally-challenged and multiple-handicapped students, has been
conducted at Liberty High School for the past ten years. In addition to previous years'
summer programming, this program will also offer follow-up activities throughout the
school year.


RECOMMENDATION:

That the administration be authorized to submit an application to the Private Industry
Council of the Lehigh Valley, Inc., for a Youth Corps Program for Handicapped Youth,
ages 14 to 21 for the 2000-2001 school year.
