RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE ADMINISTRATION - March 20, 2000

  1. Private Industry Council of the Lehigh Valley - Pre-College Academic
    and Career Program

INFORMATION:

The Bethlehem Area School District is eligible to apply to the Private Industry Council of
the Lehigh Valley, Inc., (PIC) under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) for funds to
conduct a Pre-College Academic and Career Program for middle school students. The
program will include a hands-on approach to teaching math and science, journal writing,
laboratory experiments, field trips, and assessment. The program will be developed in
conjunction with Moravian College and will have follow-up activities throughout the
school year.


RECOMMENDATION:

That the administration be authorized to submit an application to the Private Industry
Council of the Lehigh Valley, Inc., for the funding of a Pre-College Academic and Career
Program for middle school students for the 2000-2001 school year.
