RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE ADMINISTRATION - March 20, 2000

  1. Dollar General Charitable Contribution Application

INFORMATION:

Dollar General is committed to creating a better life for individuals, families, and
communities throughout its 24-state territory by providing financial support for worthy
causes. Their mission is to "support literacy and youth development initiatives that
promote self-sufficiency." They wish to support initiatives that produce long-term
results. Youth education programs are among the area that they support. A proposal has
been generated by Donegan Elementary School in order to institute a Laptop Take Home
Program. It includes the purchase of six Macintosh I laptops, books, and related
software.


RECOMMENDATION:

That the administration be authorized to submit an application to Dollar General on
behalf of Donegan Elementary School in the amount of $6,800.00 for a Laptop Take
Home Program.

The administration's recommendations 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13,
14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, and 32 were
considered together.


Director Leeson remarked that the Dollar General Charitable Contribution
Application is extremely interesting and asked if Mr. Doluisio would expound on
the program.  Mr. Doluisio stated that he really could not.  Mrs. Cintr—n was
called to Puerto Rico due to a death in the family.  He offered to have Mrs.
Cintr—n contact Director Leeson upon her return Wednesday.  Director Leeson
remarked that she certainly supports the program and was interested in more
information.
