COVERING
TEACHER AIDE EMPLOYES

The Board of School Directors agrees to change the present collective bargaining agreement for teacher
aide employes in the following areas:
The terms of this Agreement shall begin January 1, 2000, and shall continue in full force and effect
until December 31, 2002.
Seniority, Vacancies, Transfers and Lay-offs:Delete "as listed below: Week of August 18-22, 1997;
Week of August 17-21, 1998; Week of August 16-20, 1999" and change wording to "the third week
of August of each contract year."
Sick Leave, Health, Welfare Separation Benefits

Delete first sentence, "Only six (6) cumulative sick days may be used during a school
year." This redundant language appears in fourth paragraph.

"Full-time teacher assistants/health assistants
who retire will receive unused sick leave credit not
to exceed 80 days at $25 per day during the first year of the agreement,
85 days at $30 per day
during the second year of the agreement, and 90 days at $35 per day during
the third year of the
agreement.

Conversion of Unused Sick Leave to Health Benefits: Full-time
teacher assistants/health
assistants who retire during the period of this agreement will be granted
the following options
for unused sick leave:

Option 1: If less than the
allowed unused sick days have been accrued, payment according to
the amounts shown in credit for unused sick leave will be used.
Option 2: If more than the allowed unused sick days have been accrued,
payment will be made for the allowed number plus all days in excess of
the maximum allowed. The credit for the days in excess of the maximum
allowed may be used to receive health care coverage benefits, including
the then current Blue Cross/Blue Shield (or other than current carrier)
coverage, for a period of time equal to a balance of funds credited for
unused sick days multiplied by $25 in year one, $30 in year two, and $35
in year three. The rate for the health coverage will be equal to the rate
charged retirees for continued coverage. At the conclusion of the use
of the unused sick days credit, the retiree would then have the option
of continuing coverage at his/her expense, if not then eligible for Medicare
benefits.
